It’s been a few months since we were frolicking with the Mermaids during Dive Fest here in Dominica. One of the sponsors, Scuba Radio, has released a brilliant video of all the fun. The song in the video is called “Dominica” by Remo (available on iTunes). Enjoy!

This new release is just in time to get us warmed up for the 2009 World Creole Music Festival here in Dominica, beginning October 30th at the Windsor Park Stadium in Roseau.

Local artist Maxine Alleyne-Esprit’s new song ‘Doo-Doo Mwen’ will get you rocking with its Creole and Latin rhythms.  The song was composed by fellow-Dominican Barbara Bully-Thomas.

Dominica is hosting its Second Annual Literary Festival & Book Fair this month.

The event is being held at the UWI Campus on Bath Road in Roseau.   Sessions run from August 5th to August 10th.

A new ferry service, the Caribbean Spirit, is operating between Portsmouth and the islands of Guadeloupe. The service will operate several times a week.

Currently the Caribbean Spirit operates on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday between Point-a-Pitre,  Marie-Galante and Portsmouth, Dominica.

  • Portsmouth to Pointe-a-Pitre: Full Fare is USD $99 round-trip.
  • Portsmouth to Marie-Galante: Full Fare is USD $86 round-trip.

On July 26th  2009, Dominica’s Windsor Park Stadium will host it’s first international cricket match.

The West Indies are scheduled to play Bangladesh in two one day Internationals. The first will be held on Sunday, July 26th and the second on Tuesday, July 28th. Tuesday has been declared a National Holiday!

Ticket are EC $120 per person and going fast. Updates to follow.

This year’s Dive Fest got off to a magical start with the presence of two beautiful Mermaids. The Mermaids are on island for the week, sponsored by Jewellers International & Swiss Army/Victorinox. They are participating in Dive Fest events and getting to know Dominica.
