Dominica’s Minister of Tourism Goes Diving!

Hon. Ian Douglas, Minister for Tourism, Legal Affairs & Civil Aviation

On Saturday, July 12th, 2008 Hon. Ian Douglas became Dominica’s first Minister of Tourism to go Scuba Diving.

The Minister attended the annual “Discover Scuba Diving” event organised by the Dominica Watersports Association. The goal of this event is to promote scuba diving among the youth as a career path and to give everyone a chance to see Dominica’s unique underwater beauty for themselves.

A classroom lecture and in-pool lessons were followed by a dive along the reef at Anchorage Hotel.

Escorted on his dive by Dive Instructor Kian Benajamin, the Minister was said to be ‘a natural’ in the water. He completed his dive full of enthusiasm and sheer amazement at the underwater scenery and marine creatures he had seen.
